AUTHOR: John White | IN: Breaking News | COMMENTS: 8 Comments |

rodcoleman.jpgWe expected this.  We expected the news to come fast and furious today and tomorrow but it’s coming even faster than expected.

The Carolina Panthers are expected to meet with Rod Coleman, a former Falcon and Panther defensive tackle.  He is also expected to meet with the Buccanneers today.

He will likely meet with both teams to see what kind of money is out there.  Coleman’s agent, Pat Dye, Jr., confirmed the meetings via email.

Coleman has 58.5 sacks in his career from the defensive tackle spot.

The report comes from the Orlando Sentinel.

i kno kearse isnt to good ne more but i could see him on the panthers i mean kearse one side,  peppers on the other that could be a sick duo with lewis and possibly coleman that would be a solid line.

  2. John White says:

I used to like Kearse but his production has really been on the decline.  He could be a cheap enough option but I’m not sure what he’s got left in the tank.

  3. kfields says:

he is a young guy wat 29-31 something like that he just has some knee problems im sure lineing up with a hopefully more productive line could do him some good plus like u said he would most likely come as a cheap option due the the decline in his career but he makes more sense then justin smith who sucks and kearse would still be better then a 3-4 rd de out of the draft so who knows.

  4. Mike Houston says:

Coleman is not a good pick up. He’s not a good run stopper, and will not be able to keep the offensive lineman off of the LBs. Plus he was injured the majority of last year. Yhis is just the Panthers being cheap. Draft Frank Okam from Texas to fill that spot, 6′3 330(big ass boy). He’ll be great to fill that

  5. Travis Sauermilch says:

even though kearse is on the decline its still his name. that worrieds the offensive line. and it would definlty help peppers i think pepper was stoped so much because the rest of our d line pretty much forgot how to place rucker and jenkins are pretty much washed up in my opinion. but there does look like there are a few good draft oppions this season. i say take kearse.

  6. kfields says:

ive also just read that david givens and issac bruce r now avaliable for the FA… issace is alittle old but with sure hands but givens wouldnt be to bad to look into since the other wr’s seem to want a lot of money and also lorenzo neal was released he wouldnt be to bad to have as a FB behind and subsituting for the older HOOVERRRRRR who everyone loves.. i kno FB is a big thing for us to look at right now but he wouldnt be a horrible option for the right $$.

  7. kfields says:

ehh nvm thinking of it neal is pretty old…. well ne ways we dont need a FB lol

  8. John White says:

Bruce may not fit since the team just got Moose back.  He might be considered just another aging WR.  But it coudl be interesting.  I’ve always like Lorenzo Neal as a fullback.  I think LT will struggle without him in SD.  Like you said, he could be a good pickup at the right price.
