Panthers Sign Darwin Walker
Tha Carolina Panthers signed free agent defensive lineman Darwin Walker on Monday. Walker had been with the Chicago Bears.
According to the Rock Hill Herald:
The Panthers struck quickly to fill their hole on the defensive line, signing veteran Darwin Walker to a one-year deal Monday morning. His agent, Al Irby, said the Panthers “were on the phone with us all weekend.”The 30-year-old Walker lends immediate credibility to the line, which was questionable after starters Damione Lewis and Maake Kemoeatu.
Terms were undisclosed, but there were at least two other teams talking to Walker, who elected to come here to stay near his South Carolina roots.

Walker is not much different from Lewis, he’s a good pass rusher. Against the run, he’s terrible, that’s why the Eagles let him go

April 28th, 2008 at 4:12 pmHmm…I don’t recall him being very good when he played for the bears. Although, he could be a good backup.
April 28th, 2008 at 5:42 pmHe can rush the QB, but can’t stop the run to save his life. As a starter he will get you killed, but as a rotational backup he could be solid.
April 28th, 2008 at 10:05 pmThe Panthers hace also signed Ian Scott, who is not much different from Walker. With these d-tackles, Beason’s performance may go down. They’ll be unable to keep those offensive guards off of him
