All the trappings are there – the hype, the drama, the intrigue, win or go home.  The Carolina Panthers will appear in their first playoff game since the 2005 season and will host their first playoff game in five years on Saturday night.

As you might imagine, there is much being written about this game.  Much.  It’s all after the jump.

We start with the news out of Arizona.

Anquan Boldin, he of the “my contract should be as rich as Fitz’s” was injured in the victory over the Falcons last weekend.  The hamstring injury is threatening to keep him sidelined Saturday night.  He missed practice on Wednesday.

The Cardinals say they are ready for the fight and that they were really just playing dead at the end of the regular season.  They intend to prove they are for real.

Some people in Arizona feel as if they have finally found themselves a coach.

Now, on to news from our local media types about our Panthers.

Good news!  The team looks healthy and only Geoff Hangartner has been held out of practice.

Cards coach Ken Whisenhunt is sort of joking about that big touchdown for Smitty during their week-eight game here in Charlotte.

The Panthers say they are strapped in and ready to rumble.
