The Charlotte Observer reports, via a local TV report, that Jerry Richardson has undergone heart transplant surgery.
Richardson, 72, underwent heart transplant surgery Sunday at Carolinas Medical Center, where he’d been on a waiting list since mid-December, WBTV (Channel 3) reported Sunday.
A CMC spokeswoman wouldn’t confirm the transplant and said Richardson’s name was not in the hospital directory.
But the television station said it received the news from unnamed sources. Anchor Sharon Smith and reporter Steve Crump reported that Richardson had pulled through the surgery and was doing well. The station showed footage of a black SUV speeding away from the airport, siren blaring, with Emergency Transplant Services on the door.
Panthers director of communication Charlie Dayton did not return calls and media relations manager Steven Drummond told the Observer he was not aware of the surgery.
We’ll continue to pray for you, Mr. Richardson.
