Yeah, historically Carolina's been slow but methodical with signing players. I don't have a problem with that, even now -- as it works for the organization -- but I do agree that there should be a sense of urgency to get things done sooner rather than later, as contract discussions are an on-field distraction, regardless of what we're told by coaches and players "that it's not."

Cluasen will get things done financially, and I doubt seriously he will play the hold out game. He'd be foolish to, anyway.

I think the signings are fairly important news. Maybe not in and of themselves, although I think those guys will contribute this year, But in what they say about the organizations sens of urgency. If memory serves the Panthers tend to take their time getting guys signed. It seems like there is more urgency to get deals done and get guys in camp for every minute of it. With such a young team I think that is a very sensible thing. I hope to see it carry over to the guys who are left.

I have a feeling Clausen will be the last signed. I think he may try to angle for first round money. Not high first round but bottom first rounder. Oh and I don't say that because I think Clausen is a bad guy or anything, this is a business. And it couldn't hurt for him to at least try. I know I'd start the negotiations in that range if I were him. Might get more than they intended if you play it
right. I don't think he'll do a holdout though as that would cement the negative personality image so many league insiders and fans have of him. So his leverage is a bit limited but he does have some in this situation. I wouldn't be surprised if he tried to see how much.
