I like it.

You know Moore may not be Peyton or Marino or Favre but we don't need any of them to win. We need a guy who can get the ball out and down field without our receivers taking a break waiting for it. We need a guy who plays smart and is careful with the ball while having the arm to occasionally thread the needle if necessary. We need a threat under center to make you pay when you stack the box. I think Matt is at least all those things and he may be Moore if you will pardon the pun.

I am one of those who thinks if we had prepped Matt during the bye week we would have made the playoffs. I can't prove it but I do know Jake had ceased being the answer long before that. The slide really started before that fateful playoff game. It killed me that the coach that had the guts to pull his starter and replace him with a career backup all those seasons ago couldn't pull the trigger again. I still say that was a front office decision. I guess we won't know for sure until Fox or Hurney write a book.

Now my support for Moore doesn't mean I don't want to see Clausen or Pike or Cantwell succeed. I hope they all push to get better. Any of them might be the next great. But Matt might be as well. And he has done something they haven't. He has won in the NFL against playoff caliber teams. So he has earned the right to be #1 and stay #1 as long as he plays well. Maybe next season(if there is a next season) one or more of those guys will give him a run for his money. But for now he is our starter and I plan to support him until he shows me he doesn't have it. So far he looks for real to me.
