I'm going to be watching John Beason and his transition to outside linebacker. Thomas Davis did a fantastic job last year, but Beason does his thing at middle linebacker as well. If he could somehow be a star player in both positions, that is just grand. I also will be watching Sherrod Martin, his rookie performance last year was stellar in my eyes. Hopefully there is only room for improvement.

There's so many that I want to see step up that it's hard to single out just one guy in particular. Both our rookies Hardy and Norwood I think have the potential to be starters. I'd prefer to see Norwood develop into a 3 down lb as to be singled out as a pass rushing specialist. Dan Connor, I've been waiting to see this guy get more playing time since we drafted him. I think he's got what it takes to be great. The guy made to many plays at Penn State (Linebacker U) to be playing backup and special teams. Jamaar Williams, can he reproduce the success he had in Chicago filling in for Lance Briggs? Can James Anderson solidify himself as a 3 down linebacker? Charles Goddfrey, I wanna see him make the plays he was making a couple years ago as a rookie. Sherrod Martin has some big shoes to fill at SS. He has the speed and the coverage ability but can he turn that into the turnovers we're used to seeing at that position? Tank Tyler, a big body that not only should be able to stop the run but should be able to bring pressure up the middle like Jenk used to. Louis Leonard hopefully can stay healthy and also start at DT. If not then Ed Johnson, Corey Irvin, or Nick Hayden will have to step it up big time. Tyler Brayton I know can stop the run but are there any pass rushing abilities at all? Charles Johnson I want to see him start week one cause I think he could be the best DE we have right now as far as experience and ability. But to answer your question Eric the defensive player I want to see step it up the most is Everrette Brown. I felt that he and Charles Johnson both should have had more playing time last season. They both seemed to produce when they were on the field. But especially Everrette. He recently said himself it just seemed like he was a split second late on most of his rushes last year and that he's been watching alot of film of himself to hopefully improve his consistency. He's added about ten lbs of muscle during the offseason and that combined with his film viewing and apparent hard work ethic makes him the player to watch for me this season. Can't wait to see #91 and #95 coming around the tackles. Thanks Eric.
