Odds Are Great: Carolina Panthers Survive Week Six Without Losing

I couldn’t resist. How many articles are out there with a similar title? I know there’s at least one on the Charlotte Observer’s website. Perhaps there are more strewn about the internet, but I certainly haven’t gone looking for them. So this one will be another to add to the numerous articles making light of Carolina’s sorry situation.

Fortunately — for what it’s worth — Carolina isn’t the only winless team in the league at this point. San Francisco and Buffalo are also winless. When I look within the division however, and see the Tampa Bay Buccaneers sitting on a record of 3-1, I can’t help but shake my head. Not to take anything away from the Bucs, but it’s just something I hate to see. Perhaps Tampa Bay is Carolina’s biggest rival…or habitually the worst team within the division.

Anyway, I’ve no room to talk as Carolina is a mere four games out from leading the division. Meanwhile, that chasm continues to grow farther apart.

This week fans can rake leaves, wash the car, finish the addition on the house, repair that leak in the roof, take a nap, kick the dig…any number of things. The best part is Carolina is guaranteed not to lose on Sunday. Thank God for small favors such as an NFL Bye Week and one less John Fox press conference to sit through — although as of late they’ve become ridiculously funny.

So that sums up Week Six for Panthers fans. A one week vacation of sitting through a Panthers game of agony, where Chinese water torture would be a welcome respite. I’m going hiking on Sunday; getting out of the apartment and into nature’s scene will be a wonderful way for me to spend a beautiful Sunday.
