Here we go again…well for me anyways. Last week I completely screwed up on calling the Jim Harbaugh move to Miami on another site. That was a personal blunder as the source was mine. The information curtailed the Internet so fast my head spun. It ended with some humbling apologies to a lot of people. This time around, maybe not so much.
Because I’m not the source of this rumor.
According to Adam Schefter this could either happen quick. However he does caution that it could also happen not at all.
For the Panthers, getting Rivera would be the first major step in fixing the defensive problems for the team that got hammered all season long. It would almost assuredly meant that the first pick may be used on a defensive player instead of reaching for a QB. With Andrew Luck out of the picture, the Panthers have a lot more options and I would have to imagine that Jerry Richardson is no longer opposed to trading out of the top spot…if they can find a suitor.
For now, the Rivera watch is on. He has interviewed for 9 HC spots since 2006 and was the catalyst behind the San Diego Charger defensive resurgence the last few years.
