Ron Rivera’s 9 Lives

The Charlotte Panthers have their new head coach.  A defensive mind that propelled a Chicago Bears team to one of the top defenses in the year while there, and this years San Diego Chargers team to one of the top in the NFL.  It’s only fitting that a man who has interviewed 9 times for a HC’ing job, lands where 9 lives go hand in hand with the cat!

The Panthers will officially announce the signing of Ron Rivera today but is already acknowledging the decision by Panthers owner Jerry Richardson.

Rivera will have a lot of work to do fixing the ailing Carolina Panthers.  The team is thinned on offense and needs some upgrades on defense.  With Andrew Luck deciding to stay in school another year, the Panthers could likely turn to the defensive side of the ball for an impact player.

Riveral is rumored to have interest in San Diego Charger TE coach Rob Chudzinski as his offensive coordinator.  Chud is interviewing with Miami in the next day or so for the same position.

The hiring of Rivera is solid.  He has more than enough experience as an assistant coach, a coordinator, and as a positional coach.  His time is long overdue.

    Thanks, Brian! (Cool ’9-lives’ reference!)

I’m excited! Watching the presser, He actually speaks “Human-talk” instead of “Foxspeak” I’m back to thinking good things!

I’m a little confused as to why so many people think we will use our 1st pick to help the defense. The position most important on any football team is the QB,and we don’t have one that can be counted on. It almost sounds like people are just taking for granted that we will again have the worst record next year and be able to snag Luck. Sorry, but that just isn’t a very good possibility…

Is there something about Newton that I don’t know about…..
