Off-season? What off-season? It’s always football season!
Look at what’s going on with our favorite team, the Carolina Panthers:
First of all, there may actually be football next season. Progress seems to be coming about in the meetings concerning a new CBA. There is a new seven-day deadline for the owners and players to reach an agreement, and for the first time, it seems possible that a happy medium might be reached.
Then there’s the fact that the Panthers have tendered offers to many of those players that you were so scared we were going to lose, like Deangelo Williams, Charles Johnson, and even Matt Moore. Who knows if those tenders will mean anything once a new CBA is reached, but hey, at least it’s a start.
And now, Carolina has (get ready…) a pass-catching tight end! Coach Rivera said that he wanted this as part of his new team. While all of us believed him, we were all pretty sure that Jeremy Shockey would never wear a Carolina Panther uniform… Well, at least I was sure… Just as sure as I was that Keyshawn Johnson would never be a Panther! But guess what! The suddenly eloquent, gentleman-like tight end will rejoin Carolina’s new offensive coordinator and his old offensive coordinator from the University of Miami, Rob Chudzinsky.
Still many questions as we go through the rest of this “off-season.” We’ll keep you informed.
