Hello readers, and welcome to the Week 14 edition of Fantasy Football Focus.
I would like to begin by apologizing for the lack of consistency on the website as of the past week. Most of the writers here, including myself, are students, and right now is finals week. So, within the next week we should have everything back to normalcy, or whatever we consider normal here at CatCrave.
That being said, last week was one heck of a week for fantasy. Steve Smith looked terrible, mainly because of the constant double coverage. The depth of the league has shrunk since Week 1, and it’s becoming harder to find talent to replace an injury, or replace poor performance. Well this week, I have a few players that are worth picking up, to go along with my usual LOVE/HATE list.
Cam Newton QB Carolina
Recently I was told that putting Cam Newton on my Love list was pointless because he is started everywhere. Well, for a top five QB, Cam has a low starting percentage. Many people drafted him as a back-up to Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers, and this week I would start him over Brady. His worst week of the season came against Atlanta in Week 6, but that was 9 weeks ago, and Cam Newton is not the same QB from then.
Marshawn Lynch RB Seattle
Lynch has had 19 or more points in 4 of his last 5 games. In the game that he didn’t have 19: he had 14. He is a must start against a rattle and weak St. Louis.
Percy Harvin WR Minnesota
I don’t trust Detroit’s secondary to hold back Ponder’s favorite target.
Dustin Keller TE NYJ
MArk Sanchez isn’t having the best season, obviously, but they are playing the Chiefs. Keller is a solid option for an inconsistent Sanchez.
Denver Broncos D/ST
I would start St. Louis’ defense against the Bears right now.
Andy Dalton QB Cincy
I hate to play any QB against the Houston D/ST.
Beanie Wells RB Arizona
1)Never understood the Beanie “name.” 2) I would never start a RB against San Fran.
Dwayne Bowe WR Kansas City
Revis + Palko = Lack of a ball to catch.
Owen Daniels TE Houston
Daniels has been a disappointment for me all season. TJ Yates isn’t Schaub, so expect his production to stay down.
Cam + Newton = Records Broken.
So with that, I plan on giving you 2 deep players. Players you can pick up if you are in a 16-24 man league, and you are dying for some solid points this week.
Toby Gerhart RB Minnesota
Gerhart looks like he has the ability to put up major numbers every week. He is going to need help from the rest of the team, but I bet he has a solid game for deeper leagues.
Darrius Heyward-Bey WR Oakland
Carson Palmer hasn’t been giving DHB a ton of looks, but that could change this week. Surprisingly, The Cheeseheads are good at covering favorite targets, so look for DHB to become more open.
