Fantasy Football Focus: Christmas Edition

So, I’m sorry that I missed the game on Thursday, but eh, who cares.

I wasn’t able to do a post last week for obvious reasons, i.e. being in Houston. So on this weeks very special Christmas edition of Fantasy Football Focus, I’m going to surprise you all with a treat. Now I can’t give it away just yet so pay attention later in the post. Now this week is most likely the championship for about 75% of the leagues out there. It is for me, and I happen to be in it! So, your fearless leader isn’t completely terrible. I’ve made some bad choices in the past when it comes to FF, but I’m going off what I’ve see all season from the players, and the defenses they are up against. Without further waiting, tune in after the break for Fantasy Football Focus: Christmas Edition!!

Players I Love

Matt Ryan QB Atlanta
Matty Ice has been tearing it up lately. In the last match-up against New Orleans this season, Matty threw for 350 yards. He is also playing against the high-powered Saints offense. The Falcons are going to be playing from behind, most likely, and will rest the game on Ryan’s shoulders.

Willis McGahee RB Denver
The Broncos’ offense doesn’t like to pass, so McGahee is a gem. He is also playing against a horrid Buffalo run defense. In other words, he’s my favorite RB this week.

Santana Moss WR Washington
The Vikings are 30th against the pass, and Washington doesn’t have many other viable options to throw to.

Aaron Hernandez TE New England
If Miami is doing its job, they will be covering Gronkowski with 2+ defenders all game. They are going to feel the pain when Brady lights it up with Hernandez instead.

Green Bay D/ST
Playing at home against Caleb Hanie….I love the match-up.

Players I Hate

Carson Palmer QB Oakland
Palmer has let me down every week so far. Also, the Chiefs have done surprising well against start QBs.

Roy Helu RB Washington
Indications are that he isn’t 100%, if he plays at all. Plus, Mike Shanahan is completely bonkers and doesn’t know who to give the ball to on game day.

Dwayne Bowe WR Kansas City
Orton loves to spread the ball around to his receivers. While Bowe is the best receiver on the team, everyone else is getting the ball. With Orton’s style, I just don’t like Bowe.

Vernon Davis TE San Francisco
He’s not a viable option when he doesn’t score. Also, the 49ers love to kick the ball.

Tampa Bay D/ST
Carolina is learning how to score, and that could spell trouble for the Bucs’ defense. The Bucs are also on a huge skid, and Carolina looks to exploit that.

There you have it folks, my final Fantasy Football Focus of 2011. It has been an honor and a privilege to give you guys advice all season.

Now you’re thinking: Slate, where is the surprise you promised? Well, here you go guys, Merry Christmas.

5 Carolina Panthers That You Must Start

Cam Newton
I feel as though I shouldn’t have to mention his name.

Jonathan Stewart/DeAngelo Williams
They are beasts, plain and simple. This is going to be a run heavy game.

Steve Smith
It may be a run heavy game, but Steve Smith takes what he wants!

Greg Olsen
The Bucs are terrible against opposing tight ends, so Shockey may be a viable option as well.

Carolina D/ST
Josh Freeman and the Bucs are turning the ball over like crazy, and with the emergence of Jordan Senn, this D could do wonders today.

Thank you all for your reads this season. The feedback has been amazing, and I look forward to next season. Take care and have a very Happy Holidays.
