NFL Mock Draft 2012: Rounds 4-7

Going into the last 3 days before the draft, three possible trade scenarios are possible. This is complicated by the Panthers holding the 9th pick. Ryan Tannehill is being sought by multiple teams drafting before the Panthers, primarily Miami. It’s possible Miami will try to move up to 3rd with Minnesota. This would cause Cleveland to try to switch picks 3 and 4 with Minnesota if they want Tannehill. Minnesota would jump at this, with Cleveland owning 14 picks. Minnesota could still take Kalil and grab another possible 1st or 2nd rounder.

The next player most sought after then becomes Michael Floyd. He will go somewhere between 7 and 9. Rumors have Jacksonville interested in taking him at 7, and if that doesn’t happen then Miami (having traded Brian Marshall) would grab him at 8.

Where does this fit into the Panther’s plans? Some teams that run a 3-4 defense want to move up to draft Melvin Ingram. So trading down to somewhere between 12 and 16 is the first scenario.

At 12, Fletcher Cox would still be available. However so would Michael Brockers, Dontari Poe, Nick Perry, and Stephon Gilmore. We would have to accept the other team’s first round pick and a second one in the 3rd or 4th round.

Senario number 2 would be finding a partner in need of a number 1 running back, and putting together a trade of the 9th pick and Jonathan Stewart for a late 1st round pick and a mid 2nd round pick.

Most likely this would be the Patriots or Browns. The Panthers could still get 2 defensive starters out of this type of trade.

The third scenario would be staying at 9 to take Cox and trading Stewart for a mid to late 2nd round or early 3rd round pick. This would seem the most likely scenario.

Last week we posted a mock top 100 that included who would be drafting in each spot. This takes us through the rest of the draft picks, 101 thru 253.

I’m not, personaaly  I think we should keep, however he;e in the last year of his contract and derves dollars equal to Williams. In fact those teams showing interest will only trade if we resign his long term. One terams comment is”we don’t want to rent him for a year. If we wait to the end of the year he goes free agent and we get nothing, What would you do?
