It has been a long time coming. The moment the entire NFL has been waiting for is finally upon us. The 2013 NFL Draft is here and after months of speculation and the thousands of mock drafts that have been produced we can finally take a chill-pill and just watch as the Panthers select the next head-lining Carolina Panther. And with the 14th pick in the 1st round, the Carolina Panthers select…
Star Lotulelei! Great pick guys! Like I said in an article I wrote earlier today, if Star Lotulelei was available by the time the Panther’s pick then we should definitely pick him up, and we did. Lotulelei is a great pick up for the Carolina Panthers. He is extremely athletic; he proved to be a huge pass-blocker in Utah and ended up drawing a ton of attention from scouts.
Lotulelei has been said to be the best run-stopper in the 2013 Draft class, something new GM Dave Gettleman has reportedly wanted when saying “Hog-Mollies”. He has proven to be one of the first players off the snap and pushes the opposing Offensive Lines back. His weight and obvious girth proves to be a consistent run-stopper when RB’s come up the middle. He has proven to be one of the best players in this year’s draft despite the negatives that surround him.
While doing some research on the man I have found out that the internet is not exactly happy with the fact that he has a wife and two children at the age of 23. I personally don’t care and it only adds to his encouragement to play his best constantly. He also has some health problems and, like the fact that he is married with kids at 23, his health doesn’t really affect me. Last year draftee Frank Alexander also had health problems that dropped him from a possible late first round/ early second round pick to a third round pick, and so far he has turned out to be a great pick up for the Panthers.
I like the pick-up of Star Lotulelei; he is a huge body that will prove to be extremely powerful on the Defensive Line and a great match alongside “Big Dwan”. He has definitely taken the place of Ron Edwards and I really can’t wait to see him play.
