We have now reached the time of the year where there is a lull in the action. Players are on “vacation” but not really on vacation. This is the time of the year when they get some rest before hitting the gym to further prepare their bodies for the rigors of training camp. This is the time of the year where they continue to perfect their craft.
Charles Johnson recently spoke to Panthers.com about his approach to the offseason:
“We are going to try and come into training camp full speed. I was telling guys, while we got this time off that we should try and stay together and workout together so we can jell. We got a lot of high expectations this year so we are going to have to prove that.”
This is the type attitude and effort we are going to need for this team to be successful this season. We are going to need each and every player to continue to work hard on their game. There is a lot of time, effort and preparation that goes into being a professional football player. With this statement alone, Davis shows the type of leadership and maturity that is going to be needed for this team to be a winning one.
Every player will be expected to be in shape and ready to go when they report to camp July 25. During this time, lets hope the players do what they have to do so that they will be ready to come to Spartanburg, SC and compete for a spot. Also lets hope that they spend this time being productive off the field and stay out of the police blotter. About 31 NFL players have been arrested since the Super Bowl earlier this year. I am definitely keeping my fingers crossed that none of our players joins that list.
