This week the NFL released the schedules for the 2014 season. This year the Panthers have the 17th toughest strength of schedule based on their opponents 2013 winning percentage (0.494). This is much easier than their 2013 schedule, which ranked as the toughest schedule for any team to start the season. The Panthers will play every team from the NFC North and the AFC North. The NFC North teams are the Green Bay Packers, Chicago Bears, Minnesota Vikings, and the Detroit Lions. The AFC North includes The Cincinnati Bengals, Baltimore Ravens, Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Cleveland Browns.
The Panthers will obviously play each of their division foes twice, home and away. In addition to the teams listed the Panthers will also play Seattle at home and Philadelphia on the road, since both teams also won their divisions. A Carolina, Seattle rivalry could be in the making with the amount of times the teams have played each other recently (4 times in the last 5 years) as well as a potential matchup for these two teams in this year’s NFC Championship. Carolina has 5 games against 2013 playoffs teams next year. Check here for a complete list of the home and away games for the Panthers.
