1.  Houston Texans:  Johnny Manziel, QB, Texas A&M

Adler:  There is plenty of uncertainty surrounding the Texans’ first overall pick.  Should they go with Clowney and wait for a QB in the later rounds or next year’s draft or should they pull the trigger on one now and hope he is their franchise guy?  My gut tells me Houston will go with the home-state hero Johnny Manziel.  Manziel dazzled the college football world with his Heisman winning freshman season.  His sophomore campaign could be seen as a disappointment, seeing as they did not make a BCS bowl, but Manziel displayed all the qualities of an NFL quarterback in his team’s 52-48 victory over Duke in the Chick-Fil-A Bowl.  The Aggies were in a big hole in the first half, but the cameras caught Manziel giving a sideline pep talk to his team.  They responded and Manziel absolutely torched Duke’s defense on the way to a thrilling comeback victory.  Manziel compiled a total of 7,820 passing yards, 2,169 rushing yards, and a combined total of 93 touchdowns (63 passing, 30 rushing) in only 2 seasons.  Brett Favre has even remarked that Manziel reminds him of himself when he was younger.  High praise from one of the greatest quarterbacks ever.  The production is there, the confidence and leadership are there, and Russel Wilson and Drew Brees have proved that height does not matter for an NFL QB to win a super bowl.  Plus the amount of jerseys this guy will sell won’t hurt a team either.
