Roaming The Wire: Carolina Panthers News & Notes - 6/7/14

Roaming The Wire is the newest feature on CatCrave.comThis is your daily destination to wake-up to for all of your Panthers related news. Rise n’ shine.  Brew some java. Then, come here every morning to get your daily Panther fix before you tackle your day.  We do the research so you don’t have to.

David Newton at

The vote is in, and depending on which side of the fence you were on, you may or may not be pleased with the outcome.  Cam Newton vs. Richard Sherman for the Madden ’15 Cover has been decided, and Sherman took the victory over our own SuperCam.  That’s twice in three years that Newton has made it to the finals without his mug on the front cover.  Too early to start the “Cam in ’16” slogans?

Mike Tanier from Sports on Earth :

Mike Tanier takes an in-depth look at what Carolina has done this offseason.  There’s some quality analysis, as well as some shortcuts that don’t paint the moves we’ve made thus far in a bright light.  Needless to say, he does not think highly of Dave Gettleman.’s Tyler McMullen:

Our roster is stocked full of young, veteran talent all over the depth chart, and Mr. McMullen offers his list of five most intriguing Panther players for 2014.  The list might surprise you if you’re not careful.  I only had one player….haha.

Tom Sorenson from The Charlotte Observer :

Every year, there is “that guy” that coaches and media toss out as a darkhorse player that is turning heads….the  “Armanti Edwards” Award, if you will.  A name that keeps popping up during interviews and recaps is De’Andre Presley.  Here’s a little background on the hard-working WR trying to earn a spot on at a cluttered, yet open position.

Jonathan Jones from The Herald Online:

There’s been high expectations amongst Panther Nation and coaches to have Kawaan Short and Star Lotulelei start next to each other.  This has not been the case thus far during OTAs, which is odd since Gettleman called KK the top interior pass rusher in last year’s draft.

Josh McSwain at :

Truly brilliant article about Luke Kuechly‘s ranking amongst NFL linebackers.  Great take by Swain and really speaks to how Kuechly has evolved into a beast.

Ryan Lester at Bleacher Report :

A nice slant on how Greg Olsen is poised to have a fantastic year, and possibly a career season in 2014.  Everyone that is sour about all of our receivers bolting town often forgets that Greg Olsen was our top receiver in 2013, not Steve Smith or Brandon LaFell.

92 Days until we square off against our NFC South foes.  Dwan Edwards is pumped…. are you?  Have an amazing weekend Cat Crave Nation!
