Carolina Panthers – 2013 NFC South Division Champions

The dog days of summer are winding down.  Kids are heading back to school.  As the calendar flipped over to September, Carolina Panthers fans shed a joyful tear knowing that football season is upon us.

Without further adieu, the official 2014 Season Preview of your Carolina Panthers is here.

2013 ended on a sour note with a regretful loss to the San Francisco 49ers at Bank of America Stadium.  The offseason was one of the most highly discussed of recent memory and loaded with interesting storylines.

A re-tooled offense has been implemented in the Queen City and this team is officially Cam Newton‘s baby.  Jordan Gross and Steve Smith are gone and replaced with a hungry Byron Bell and a very promising and imposing Kelvin Benjamin.

Your NFC South Champion Carolina Panthers are looking for their first back-to-back winning season in the franchise’s 20-year history.

Defense will remain the calling card in Carolina with the entire front-seven returning.  Thomas Davis and Luke Kuechly are the leaders of this unit and will command a very aggressive and talented squad.  The secondary has been almost completely overhauled with only Melvin White and Charles Godfrey remaining as starters.

An infusion of savvy veterans via free agency and a nice blend of youth from the draft has the Panthers pointed in the right direction.  Coach-of-the-Year, Ron Rivera is the captain steering this ship towards success, and his “Riverboat” moniker will continue in ’14.

The path that these Carolina Panthers must travel down is riddled with a rough stretch of games in Cincinnati, Green Bay, Seattle (at home), New Orleans (at home), and then up to Philadelphia for a Monday Nighter.  This five-game minefield will be a true test of the Panthers’ mental and physical strength.

Cat Crave Nation, there’s a lot to be excited about in Carolina, so let’s continue along and dig a little deeper into our Carolina Panthers 2014 Season Preview.
