I’m not a die-hard fantasy football participant. Even though I claim to be sometimes, I’m not the fanatic that others are. I’m definitely more of a casual participant who pretty much drafts players he’s comfortable with. For example last year (2009), I approximate that I had in the neighborhood of 10 fantasy football teams. Why? Mainly because friends kept inviting me to join their leagues. So I joined.

At any rate, the example is that out of those 10 or so teams, my roster varied very little from team-to-team. I did manage to field one roster that was just ridiculous with super star players — I still have no idea how that happened, but life was great every week when deciding whether to start Peyton Manning, Philip Rivers, or Tom Brady. Believe it or not, I went with Rivers for a better part of the season, at least until I felt comfortable starting Manning (he was coming off a surgery during the offseason). (more…)

Today, we’ll take a look at the other side of the ball, as the defensive line has come into question more times than almost any position during the offseason.

Before we get started, I just want to clarify one thing. When talking about the defensive line today, I’m only talking about a smaller unit: the front-four. We’ll cover defensive ends, linebackers, cornerbacks, and safeties as the date for training camp draws closer (seven days away).
