The Carolina Panthers entered Week 2 against the Packers as huge underdogs. The Panthers put immense pressure on the Defending Super Bowl Champions and almost walked away with a win.

The Panthers are obviously a better team than their 2010 counterpart and teams are taking notice. They fought until the last minute and, quite possibly, could have walked away with an upset. Numerous mistakes and problems on the field led to the Panthers beating themselves. But, it is time for me to hand out the grades for this weeks performance against the Green Bay Packers. You could say it was their calling card. But that calling card hasn’t exactly been picking up lately for the Panthers.

In the team’ season opener against the Arizona Cardinals, the team finished with just 74 rushing yards, 18 of which came from quarterback Cam Newton. Running backs DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart combined for 56 yards on 18 carries, just 3.1 yards per carry and zero touchdowns. Not exactly a game changer.

I know that was one game but the Panthers have been struggling to run the ball since the beginning of last season and that seems to have carried over into the preseason and now into the regular season.

It is tough being a Panther Fan this year. And what a passionate bunch we are. We love the players and even the owner, but it just seems that the Coaching staff is the bad guy this year. Not the rivals, not a greedy player, and not even the injury bug. This year, we are ready to get on the Fire John Fox bandwagon. I have to be honest (again), I think I am too. (more…)
