Two weeks into preseason, and we’ve already witnessed more than we can bear. Some say it’s time to hit the panic button, others say not so fast, and some take the wait-and-see approach, not committing to one side or another. I tend to ride the fence, though I dabble with pessimism and optimism.

A part of me says, “it’s only preseason, why the concern?” While the other half of me says “if this is how this team is going to look in Week One, they are in deep doo-doo.” (more…)

Going into the season, we knew Matt Moore was the starting quarterback of the Carolina Panthers. We also knew that Hunter Cantwell was the only other player on the roster with the “QB” suffix attached to his name.

Fast-forward to the weekend of the NFL Draft, and we knew the Panthers officially had four quarterbacks on the roster — only one with something of an identity.

Rookie quarterback Tony Pike might be what some might term a late-round steal. fellow rookie Jimmy Clausen however, is looked upon as the heir successor to the starting job in Carolina, once Moore no longer has the job. But who’s the odd man out, should the Panthers decide to retain only three quarterbacks on the official 53-man roster? (more…)

In less than 12 hours, the Carolina Panthers will take the field in Baltimore, to face off against the Ravens. While preseason counts for nothing in terms of wins and losses, it does matter for the reason of seeing how teams look at different positions, and for the battles for position being fought within the teams.
