I guess this matchup is becoming something of a rival. The Carolina Panthers will have played the Giants now for the fourth time in three years. There was the close loss in overtime at New York (New Jersey, technically) in December of 2008, there was yet another loss in preseason of 2009 at New York, the 41-9 shellacking delivered to the Giants to close their old stadium in Week 16 of the 2009 regular season, and now…Sunday September 12, 2010; the Panthers once again travel to the Meadowlands of East Rutherford, NJ to check out the Giants’ new digs and hopefully leave Giants fans speechless, with their mouths agape, as the Carolina Panthers run all over the G-Men in their first game of the regular season at their new home.

Considering this seems to be a recurring matchup, now in it’s third consecutive season, I’m wondering what’s with all the love given by the NFL’s schedule-making computer that given the Giants four consecutive home games against the Carolina Panthers in three years? Is it because if the game were in Charlotte that Giants fans wouldn’t make the trip? I highly doubt it. Whatever the reason, it only goes to show how much stronger the men from Carolina are, if they can pull out another win in a meaningful game to the Giants and their faithful. (more…)

]]> You’re about to play the biggest game of your season.  Week sixteen’s matchup will decide the number one seed in the NFC and you get home from practice and decide to check the headlines on the web.  Here’s what you run across:

“Let me get something straight, we’re still No. 1 in the league,” [Brandon] Jacobs proclaimed of the Giants’ rushing attack. “The last couple games, three games we played haven’t been very good and we’re still No. 1 in the league. No matter how many yards some team chunk up we were that far ahead.”

Would this be a great time for John Fox to be quoted as saying, “Stats are for losers?”  Seems like it would.

Mr. Jacobs, the team from Carolina has more class than this.  They’ll keep their feelings to themselves.  If they are to do any talking it will be done on the field, okay?

What is it with you Giants players anyway?  First, your teammate, Justin Tuck calls the Panthers the best team in the league and now you question their running game.  You should have all compared notes before speaking.

You might want to be careful, Brandon.  Remember you’re playing on a bad PCL which has already caused swelling and some missed time.  It would be a shame if your ego got bruised badly on Sunday too, wouldn’t it?

That’s great but I gotta ask one question – Why is DeAngelo Williams not on the roster?  Clinton Portis was named as a reserve.  That’s great, right?  Not so fast!
