Did the Super Bowl leave you feeling less like you watched the big game and more like you simply watched two very good teams play football? It did me. The outcome was what I hoped for as I don’t like the Pittsburgh Steelers at all. So to see Green Bay bring home Lombardi was a nice ending to the season. But it left me hankering for something far more exciting.

Sure the game was close and the Steelers made it interesting late, but it seemed so lackluster. Where was the big plays that opened up the game or changed the flow? Where was the Super Bowl records being broken? (only one, both teams set the record for least rushing attempts combined in a Super Bowl). The most exciting part of the game came within hours of the gates opening when 1,200 fans suddenly realized that the stadium’s attempt to add seating failed and they couldn’t watch the game.

800 were reassigned seating while 400 got to watch it on TV…they ended being paid three times the 900 dollar ticket value, were allowed on the field post-game, were given free stuff, food, drinks, and tickets to the next Super Bowl. I would have taken all that to watch the game on TV in the stadium.

The real treat however wasn’t the action on the field or the half-time show that to me really should have just be Fergie without the “Peas”, no the real treat came in the class that was displayed by both clubs. Leading up to, during, and after the game was over. As was pointed out to me by my good friend George on Monday.

Thus far, we’ve covered great games and great performances. There have been franchise-changing moments.

The number four moment was exactly that – a moment that would set into motion change that would forever alter the course of two teams. (more…)

I suppose I’ve been a little bit hard on Pacman Jones in recent days here. I’ve let myself get all caught up in the problems he’s had in the past. I was just really hard on him for the six (or is it two?) arrests in his past.

But the Pacman appeared on Michael Irvin’s radio show Tuesday and discussed his issues and the potential for winding up in Dallas.

“The best business decision is for me to start somewhere new,” Jones said.

“I’m not sitting here telling you I don’t own up to mistakes I’ve made. I accept everything, the punishment, everything that comes along with the bad decisions and bad choices I’ve made. In the end, I just pray to God I get a second chance.”

“This is where I want to be, and hope it’ll work out in the long run and it’ll happen real quick,” he said. “It’s obvious (Cowboys owner Jerry Jones) does give people a second chance. He has a great heart. Hopefully, I can get one of those second chances and I can be wearing a Dallas Cowboy uniform next year.” (more…)
