The Panthers recently signed kicker Justin Medlock, who was a 5th round draft pick by the Chiefs in 2007, and since then has been one of the better kickers in the CFL. I wouldn’t look for Medlock to do anything special and its very unlikely he’ll make the final roster cuts. However, it will be good for Olindo Mare to have some competition. Last year he had no one challenging him for the job whatsoever, and in consequence he was very shaky throughout the season. He missed two short field goals that cost the Panthers two wins. Maybe if Medlock can have a strong camp it will at least light a fire under Mare so that he doesn’t slack off and remains completely focused during the season.

different stories that have irked me over the past week. There were a few to be sure, but two which really stand out … well, one is more of a story-line, while the other is just pondering thoughts in my mind.
