Just a quick blurb for now — Darin Gantt of The Charlotte Observer reports that Carolina Panthers’ third-round draft pick, Armanti Edwards, is close to signing a four-year contract. The signing bonus is said to be $710,000.

If you didn’t know already, Edwards was the quarterback for Appalchian State University, will transition to wide receiver for the Panthers.

Carolina traded it’s second-round pick of 2011 to the New England Patriots in order to secure Edwards’ services and keep him in North Carolina.

To date, the Panthers have eight-of-10 draft picks signed. Yet to sign are second-round pick Jimmy Clausen, and third-round selection Brandon LaFell.

According to Steve Reed of CarolinaGrowl.com, it’s a done deal.

The Panthers and Edwards have agreed to terms on a four-year, $4.25 million contract.

At this point, it is said that Edwards is expected to produce and will see some time as slot receiver, and will be the primary kick returner.
