Quarterback. 2003-09. Jake Delhomme. 10. player. 87.

In the grand scheme of things, Jake Delhomme wasn’t anything special under center. That however, didn’t keep him from taking the Panthers to their first Super Bowl appearance as a franchise.

That alone earned him a spot among the top-10 all-time Panthers players.

Prior to Cam Newton’s arrival in 2011, Delhomme was about the only decent Panthers quarterback since the franchise entered the league. Although far from a premier talent, what he did with the tools he had available to him more than earned him his stripes with the club.

Taking over as the starter in 2003 and maintaining the role until 2009, Delhomme put together a string of strong seasons that resulted in three playoff appearances. The coup de gras though, was his first season under center for the Panthers, during which they went all the way to the Super Bowl before a heartbreaking defeat at the hands of the New England Patriots.

Now the stats aren’t always pretty to look at. Delhomme finished his seven years in Carolina with a 59.2 completion percentage, a 120:89 touchdown-to-interception ratio and only one Pro Bowl nod. That Super Bowl run and 53-37 record as a starter earned him this ranking though.
