Devin Funchess made a nice touchdown grab to put Carolina on the board and give the Panthers a sense of hope in the first half. It appeared they would get another opportunity before the break but a well played punt pinned the Panthers back deep in their own territory and the offense couldn’t get anything going.

Torrey Smith may have silenced a few critics, catching each of his five targets for 43 yards and another Carolina touchdown in the second half. The receiving corps, had one of their best overall game performances this season.

Even D.J. Moore, despite his fumbles – one on special teams – rebounded to catch four passes for 59 yards as Newton continued to show confidence in the rookie. He also added an 18 yard rush, the team’s longest of the game.
