The secondary must be better

The Panthers secondary must play better in the month of December. Ever since the Thursday night showdown against the Pittsburgh Steelers, things have been very rough for the team in that area. They have not look like themselves and have been exposed by great receivers and deep passes.

Carolina has given up the 11th-most yards in the National Football League through the air. With 2,861 yards allowed on the season, that is not an ideal number. Per game however, the numbers are a bit better. They  have allowed 258 yards through the air per game. Recently, they have been giving up ample yards through the air. They gave up 319 against the Steelers, 215 against the Lions, and 322 against the Seahawks. That has to change in the month of December. With games coming up against to the Buccaneers, Browns, two games against the Saints, and one game against the Falcons, they will certainly have their hands full. The Falcons rank number four in the entire National Football League in yards per game with 317. In addition to upstart quarterback Baker Mayfield, they also have to face wide receivers such as Michael Thomas and Mike Evans. It will not be an easy five games for them.

The Panthers secondary needs to be ready. If there was a time for Donte Jackson to play well, this would be it. He has already made an impression on the National Football League and playing well here would help his case to be among some of the best corners in the league. As a whole, the secondary needs to be ready for the oppositions weapons. The challenges do not get any easier from here on out.
