Amazon’s ‘All or Nothing: The Carolina Panthers’ – Reasons to Watch
By Jake Wexler
How functional are the team relationships behind closed doors?
This is where the show really shined in past seasons. You can really get a good feel for the culture and competence of an organization just by watching how players, coaches and executives interact. In the Cowboys edition, if you look close enough, you can see Jerry Jones’ elbow poking out from under Jason Garrett’s rear end for most of the season. Jokes aside, I felt like there was a clear disconnect in the communication between Garrett, his staff and the players. He seemed more like a figurehead than a long-tenured head coach worthy of extension.

I have some tepidness about seeing how the sausage is made (so to speak) in the Panthers locker room. I’m genuinely worried that I won’t like what I see, while also being excited to throw up the veil. The first thing I will be looking at is the relationships between the members of the organization from the owner to the players. How does new owner David Tepper interact with general manager Marty Hurney and coach Ron Rivera? Does it change over the course of the season? What is Rivera’s relationship with each player? Which players may surprise us as leaders in the locker room? We will get to witness all of this and more.
Hopefully it isn’t a train-wreck that makes us question our faith.
This fourth ‘All or Nothing’ season featuring Carolina is produced by NFL Films with narrator Jon Hamm and premieres next Friday, July 19 on Amazon Prime.
