Protect the quarterback

The top thing that the Carolina Panthers have to do to stop Los Angeles is protect the quarterback. The Los Angeles defensive line is one of the best in football, and led by Aaron Donald, it does not appear to be slowing down anytime soon.

Donald himself had 20.5 sacks on the year. As a team, the Rams had 43 sacks on the year. It’s no secret that Donald is the defensive weapon for Los Angeles. The Carolina Panthers offensive line will certainly have their work cut out for them.

Carolina needs to make sure that they give as much protection to Newton as possible. If they need to double-team Donald, then so be it. This was a line that played well last year all things considered, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they struggled against this Los Angeles pass rush.

This is a team that can bring pressure from all sorts of areas. Whether it be up the middle or off the edge, Los Angeles knows how to beat you in different ways. Carolina needs to make sure that their line holds strong, and if they can force Donald to avoid going to the edge, then I would consider that a victory. He is still going to make his impact on the game, it’s more so about limiting the damage he does.
