Impact player to watch: WR D.J. Moore

It’s no secret the Panthers view D.J. Moore as a true No. 1 receiver going into the 2019 season. Moore definitely has the skill set to succeed in this role. Now is his first real opportunity to prove it.

Last year Carolina entered the year with Devin Funchess as the No. 1 target for Cam. As the year went on, Moore proved that he was the most talented pass-catcher that the team had on the roster.

Now that Funchess has moved on to join the Indianapolis Colts, Moore takes over the unquestioned No. 1 wide receiver role. Though he might end up second on the team in targets if tight end Greg Olsen can remain healthy for the entire year.

Moore is going up against one of the NFL’s best secondaries in Week 1. The Rams have All-Pro’s Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib as their cornerbacks. They also have one of the top safeties in the game in Eric Weddle.

If Moore can get open and make plays against this secondary the Panthers should have a good opportunity at coming out with a win.
