Carolina Panthers: A week of upsets works in Carolina’s favor
By Alex Duran
The Panthers’ loss was a culmination of victories.
There is a resounding feeling that QB7 actually did very well despite two costly turnovers. Allen had all of the productive support he needed to win the game with Greg Olsen and DJ Moore keeping the dream alive, particularly towards the end of the game. It was unfortunate to watch the Panthers lose their starting LT in the middle of the game and it made a noticeable difference. It was also unfortunate to watch the Panthers fold multiple times on third down. Despite the misfortunes, the Panthers wound up losing to a division leader by one possession and nearly pulled off a comeback.
The way the Panthers played yesterday despite all of the odds being against them speaks volumes about the Panthers’ resilience. Gerald McCoy was questionably flagged in the second quarter, but ended the same drive by stopping the runner dead in his tracks to close the half.
The defensive backs didn’t win the turnover battle, but still managed to hold Rodgers to zero passing touchdowns. Christian McCaffrey was only held to one touchdown, but still ran for more yards than Aaron Jones. Kyle Allen’s impression of Aaron Rodgers at the end of the game ultimately flopped, but his passer rating wound up being only two-tenths less. The playoff race became harder with a loss, but the window is still open.
