Alex Taylor – (South Carolina)

If Alex Taylor makes the most of his outstanding physical attributes then someone is going to have a real player on their hands. The South Carolina product has exceptional length and frame that makes him one of the more exciting development prospects entering the NFL in 2020.

There is substantial room for improvement regarding his technique. Teams should not be expecting too much in the way of production from Taylor during the early stages of his development.

Where he will be able to help is in the run game due to his power and lateral quickness. Taylor is also a natural blocker and mirrors oncoming defensive pass-rushers very well. This adds to his impressive mobility for a man his size.

Taylor does play a little high, which is to be expected of someone standing 6-foot-9. More savvy defensive ends or outside linebackers at the next level will take advantage of this weakness if it is not addressed.

The Carolina Panthers could sit Taylor behind recently acquired left tackle Russell Okung for a season and learn what it takes to be a productive offensive lineman in the pros. This would be invaluable for his overall development given the experience his potential mentor brings to the table.

Taking Taylor anywhere after round three would be a realistic option and a move that could bring its fair share of rewards down the line.
