Carolina Panthers: Option No. 1 – Rely on the passing game

Should the Carolina Panthers lose Christian McCaffrey at any stage, the onus will be on their passing game to stand up and be counted.

Their offense should be more balanced next season with Teddy Bridgewater under center and Joe Brady calling the plays. The Panthers do have some game-changing players throwing the ball going into the season. And it will be interesting to see just what sort of numbers they can put up with a more consistent signal-caller.

D.J. Moore is coming off his first 1,000-yard receiving season. This represented a real achievement in the circumstances and there could be even more to come from the player with more help around him.

One such example is the free-agent arrival of Robby Anderson from the New York Jets. He will line up on the opposite side to Moore and is already familiar with the system having worked with Matt Rhule at Baylor.

Anderson penned a two-year, $20 million deal with the franchise this offseason. And expectations are high that this tandem can take their respective games to another level this season.

Slot receiver Curtis Samuel is going into the season in search of a new deal after the organization opted not to trade him during the NFL Draft. Brady can get creative with how he uses the former second-round pick. And this is another intriguing element to the Panthers’ offense in 2020.

The likes of Seth Roberts, Keith Kirkwood, and Pharoh Cooper will also be fighting for a spot in the rotation. And there is also plenty of intrigue surrounding undrafted free agent duo Omar Bayless and TreVontae Hights.

These weapons should allow the Panthers to put some points on the board in the event McCaffrey is forced to spend some time on the sidelines.
