5 free agents the Carolina Panthers should avoid in 2021
By Dean Jones
Will Fuller – WR
- 2020 team: Houston Texans
Will Fuller‘s talent is undeniable.
But there are some concerns off the field when it comes to the wide receiver.
The Houston Texans wideout was suspended for six games for violating the NFL’s substance-abuse policy in 2020, which will also carry over to next season. Fuller claimed this was to do with taking prescribed medication rather than purposely putting something in his body to improve production on the field. But it is bound to come with a red flag or two when teams look at the players ahead of the free agency period.
There is also Fuller’s injury history to consider.
The former Notre Dame speedster has dealt with some significant hamstring problems throughout his career and although his deep threat remains of a high standard, this also has the potential to have a detrimental impact on his market value this spring.
It appears unlikely that Fuller stays around in Houston, especially with the current situation surrounding Deshaun Watson and his apparent desire for a trade away from the organization.
The Carolina Panthers could be in the market for another prominent weapon in the passing game with Curtis Samuel also set to test the free-agent market. However, taking a risk on someone like Fuller isn’t something they should stay away from despite his unquestioned talent.
