Ishmael Hyman – Carolina Panthers WR

Although we are only early in the preparation period, Ishmael Hyman has wasted no time in laying down a marker that could eventually see him earn a place on the 53-man roster.

His eye-catching performances during voluntary OTAs haven’t gone unnoticed by the media or the coaching staff. Keeping this standard up will be of critical importance, but Hyman has at least given himself a solid foundation from which to build.

As stated previously, the Carolina Panthers are loaded at the wide receiver position. It’s going to be fascinating to see which players rise to the occasion in the coming weeks before the roster is finalized and Hyman has certainly given Matt Rhule and Joe Brady something to think about during their first few sessions on the field.

Hyman didn’t get much of a look in 2020 outside of being a practice squad member for the most part. The Panthers obviously thought enough of the wideout to keep him around, but the competition for places is fierce at arguably the strongest positional group on the roster.

At least on the face of things, Hyman has his work cut out to make the roster and claim some targets when it matters. But should the player continue to impress during scrimmages at training camp, it will do his chances a significant amount of good.
