Carolina Panthers’ performance in the third quarter

It was a valiant effort last weekend from Sam Darnold, who got the Carolina Panthers to within one score at the Dallas Cowboys late on. But another catastrophic third quarter from the team was simply too much to overcome.

Darnold is not without blame, obviously. His two interceptions in quick succession both fell into the hands of Trevon Diggs at a critical time and Dallas made the former USC star pay for his mistakes.

However, the Panthers’ problems after halftime date back to long before the signal-caller came on board.

In truth, this is something that’s become a constant source of frustration since Matt Rhule and his staff was appointed. Outside of their game at the Houston Texans on Thursday Night Football, the Panthers have been flat coming out of the locker room for the second half and as last Sunday proved, it’s going to cost them against good teams with playoff aspirations.

It’s a mixture of poor adjustments and an inability to execute on the field. So it’ll be very interesting to see if things improve against the Philadelphia Eagles.

As stated previously, these are favorable matchups for Carolina in the coming weeks. Fixing their third-quarter complications would go a long way to emerging from them with an incredible amount of positivity.
