Cam Newton’s best game since coming back

Cam Newton took a hellacious beating at the Buffalo Bills as the offensive line crumbled, but this was undeniably his best game since returning to the Carolina Panthers. The quarterback gained yards on the ground, produced the goods in key moments at times, and generated some offense even when specific plays weren’t developing as expected.

It wasn’t enough to keep the game close.

And the Panthers never really looked threatening at any stage.

But this was encouraging for Newton and something he can take a great deal of heart from. Even if it didn’t result in a notable road victory against a potential Super Bowl contender.

The naysayers will look at the bare bones and draw their own conclusions. However, for those that examined his production a little closer, it was a big step in the right direction.

The talent around Newton cannot be classed as stellar by any stretch. Although the signal-caller is an easy scapegoat when things aren’t progressing as expected from a team standpoint.

A late interception in garbage time doesn’t change this.

Carolina was losing long before Newton decided to return.

And the problems within the organization are much deeper than him.

All Newton can do is keep developing week by week and hopefully, everything else will fall into place for one of the team’s greatest ever players.
