Haason Reddick surpasses his 2020 sack total
Getting Haason Reddick back off the reserve/COVID-19 list is a massive boost for the Carolina Panthers. One of the signings of free agency has been an absolute revelation since joining the team and judging by his presser comments this week, is eager for his stay to be extended beyond the current campaign.
Reddick’s already proven his 2020 season with the Arizona Cardinals wasn’t just a one-off. He is a significant force flying off the edge and the Temple product quickly emerged as an indispensable member of Phil Snow’s improving defense this season.
The former first-round pick is currently on 11 sacks for the season. This is 1.5 quarterback takedowns below what Reddick managed to accomplish last time around and he will no doubt be striving to reach or possibly even surpass this total during Carolina’s season finale at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Although the Panthers have nothing to play for collectively, this is a nice little carrot dangling in front of Reddick. One that might put some extra dollars on his demands when it’s time for the player’s representatives to begin contract negotiations.
Tampa Bay’s protection has shown some vulnerability in recent weeks. So don’t be surprised if Reddick gets the two sacks needed for a new career-high.
