4 major obstacles that could prevent Panthers trade for Kirk Cousins

Vikings could ride it out with Kirk Cousins
Another stumbling block when it comes to potentially acquiring Kirk Cousins is the Minnesota Vikings’ lack of options in the event they move on from the veteran. New head coach Kevin O’Connell won’t want his first season to be a failure, so relying on Kellen Mond, a questionable free agent, or even an incoming college recruit is not a realistic option for a team that is still loaded with talent on both sides of the football.
Cousins seems happy in Minnesota and has some outstanding weapons such as Justin Jefferson, Adam Thielen, and running back Davin Cook to call upon. The Vikings’ offensive line is also progressing well, which is something that cannot be said of the Carolina Panthers and their torrid protection at the present time.
At least on the outside looking in, Minnesota is in a better position than the Panthers right now. Although landing Cousins could be a shrewd bit of business providing the price is right.
Carolina will probably make a few calls to various teams this offseason to get the lay of the land regarding quarterback availability. Russell Wilson and Deshaun Watson are being linked to the Panthers and the situation between Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers might be a pipe dream, but it’s something they’ll monitor nonetheless.
Sam Darnold’s days with the Panthers might be numbered. But the possibility of a trade to bring Cousins to the organization appears slim when one takes everything into account.
