Carolina Panthers could select Charles Cross (Mississippi State)

Measurements:

  • Height: 6-foot-5 | Weight: 310 pounds

2021 Stats:

  • 680 pass protection snaps
  • 86.7 PFF Grade
  • Started 12 games at left tackle

There has been a lot of hype surrounding Charles Cross and it’s well-deserved due to his high potential.

Cross has been mentioned as the potential No. 1 overall pick. But is also a guy that could slide a bit depending on how the actual draft shakes out.

The Mississippi State product is hands down one of the top three offensive tackles in this draft class thanks to his long arms and impressive athleticism that he brings to the table.

As a two-year starter with the Bulldogs, Cross was consistent and has the strength to be a very good blindside protector in the NFL. The length, technique, and pass-protecting ability of the Air-Raid offense make him very appealing.

However, the downfall is he doesn’t have as much experience as a run-blocker. He did prove to be very solid at it, though during his high school years – something that shouldn’t hurt his stock all that much.

Even though some mock drafts say he could go No. 1, chances are that he is the most likely top three tackle to fall to the Carolina Panthers. We know Matt Rhule loves good hand technique and Cross definitely can provide that on the offensive line.
