Robbie Anderson – Carolina Panthers WR

It was sad to see Robbie Anderson cut such a forlorn figure in 2021. The wide receiver enjoyed a phenomenal start to his stint with the Carolina Panthers en route to his first-ever 1,000-yard campaign, but these numbers dipped dramatically last time around thanks to individual mistakes and erratic quarterback play.

Anderson will have a new signal-caller distributing the football in the coming months. Although his comments surrounding Baker Mayfield were blown out of proportion, these personalities have to mix well for the duo to stand any chance of developing chemistry in a pressurized setting.

Whether Anderson can return to the form of old is debatable. The wideout was the subject of trade speculation earlier this offseason and even wrote a tweet stating he was contemplating retirement before reaffirming his commitment to the cause during Carolina’s mandatory minicamp – not exactly the ideal start all things considered.

It’s possible we’ve seen the best of Anderson. But he is also a prime bounce-back candidate providing Mayfield becomes a more consistent presence under center.

What comes next for Anderson beyond the upcoming campaign is anyone’s guess. He’s counting more than $21 million against the cap in 2023, so his numbers must be at a Pro Bowl level to justify such a huge financial commitment.
