C.J. Henderson – Carolina Panthers CB

It was a slow burn for C.J. Henderson after the Carolina Panthers swooped to acquire the cornerback from the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2021. The former top-10 selection found life difficult within the AFC South set-up and bedding him into a new environment slowly was inevitable to build up confidence long-term.

Henderson will be tasked with more this time around. He’ll also have the benefit of a full offseason to further immerse himself within Phil Snow’s system and will be working closely with new defensive backs coach Steve Wilks, who is one of the most respected figures in the business.

The early reports have been encouraging where Henderson is concerned. The Florida product has caught the eye during offseason workouts and drawn praise from players and coaches alike, which is a solid foundation to build upon in training camp.

Carolina thought a lot of Henderson during his pre-draft process and considered taking him at No. 7 overall before they went with Derrick Brown. This is going to be a stern test of character, but it if comes through it with flying colors then it could provide the Panthers with a productive cornerback trio alongside Jaycee Horn and Donte Jackson.

Keith Taylor Jr. will also fancy his chances of earning a prominent spot on the rotation. So the more momentum Henderson can generate immediately, the better his chances will be.
