Carolina Panthers WR Robbie Anderson comes to life

While many wide receivers have caught the eye throughout the team’s training camp over the first few practices, Robbie Anderson had been relatively quiet by his usual standards. That all changed on Tuesday during his finest performance of the summer so far.

The Carolina Panthers decided to keep faith with Anderson despite a down year in 2021. It was an eventful offseason period for the player, who voiced his displeasure about the Baker Mayfield trade and tweeted out thoughts about retirement before going back on these claims.

It was refreshing to see Anderson turn things up a notch, producing some nice catches during individual drills and connecting on a deep pass from Mayfield for the best offensive play of camp that drew praise from head coach Matt Rhule.

"“As the head coach, I’m always like, ‘Great to see them connect. Hey, why did they get behind us?’ So there’s always a duality to that, but that was good to see those guys connect.”"

This was a major step in the right direction for Anderson. Something that can hopefully propel the Temple product to bigger and better things when competitive action arrives.

Anderson is professional enough to know what’s at stake. Especially considering the $21.71 million salary-cap figure tied to him on the final year of his deal in 2023.
