Which Carolina Panthers deserved better from the organization during a colorful franchise history spanning almost three decades?

The Carolina Panthers’ direction has remained confusing for most of the last half-decade. Since the team lost the Super Bowl to the Denver Broncos, the team has often felt directionless not committing to a rebuild fully or going all in to attempt to make it back to contention.

Along the way, the Panthers have made poor decisions when it comes to players who deserved better from the franchise.

The quarterback position in particular has been an area that’s suffered poor decision after poor decision. Sam Darnold serves as the most recent cautionary tale after a trade went sour last season before Carolina turned in desperation to P.J. Walker and Cam Newton.

Now the team has brought in another former first-round disappointment in Baker Mayfield, allowing the former top-five selections to compete in hopes of finding an answer under center at long last.

The Panthers have had a history over the last decade of making strange moves when it comes to their current and former players. Whether it is failing to utilize them properly or letting the wrong ones walk, Carolina hasn’t had the best track record when it comes to managing their recent stars.

With this in mind, here are five Panthers past and present who deserved better from the franchise during a rollercoaster stint in the league since their inception.
