Carolina Panthers OT Taylor Moton’s leadership improvements

Again, this was a statement after practice rather than what transpired on the field. But in all honesty, there wasn’t much reported for anything to go off given the session’s shortness on the final day.

One nugget Matt Rhule did drop centered on someone who’d been largely forgotten amid all the offensive line drama surrounding Ikem Ekwonu and the starting unit. Taylor Moton‘s consistency has never been in question, but the head coach lauded the former second-round pick for his production on the field and emergence into a true alpha leader within the locker room.

Rhule even went as far as to say Moton was the camp MVP in this regard. Something that provides further hope he can cement himself as one of the best edge protectors in the business.

Having a productive individual alongside Moton in free-agent signing Austin Corbett is going to be a substantial asset. While there are questions on the left, Carolina can relax safe in the knowledge the right-hand side should be reliable more often than not.

Moton has never been known as a big talker. He lets his exceptional performance levels speak for him.

But taking it upon himself to lead from the front is a noteworthy development at a time when prominent leaders within the locker room must make their presence felt in whatever way they can with so much at stake in 2022.
