Carolina Panthers safeties

  • Jeremy Chinn, Xavier Woods, Juston Burris, Sean Chandler, Myles Hartsfield (S/CB).

The safety position has some solid depth for the Carolina Panthers. Jeremy Chinn led the team in tackles last season and is poised for another good season, which could earn him a significant pay rise heading into the final year of his deal in 2023.

Starting alongside Chinn, the Panthers will have Xavier Woods, who most recently played for the Minnesota Vikings. The former sixth-round selection is a solid player and will look to bring some veteran experience to the defense.

Juston Burris was a starter for the Panthers last year and will be coming off of the bench in 2022. Although he struggled at times as a starter, there is a lot to like about his capabilities in a backup role.

Sean Chandler saw some playing time last year at safety and special teams. He isn’t a bad addition to have if needed and could be preferred to Kenny Robinson, who was ejected on consecutive days during joint practices with the New England Patriots.

Myles Hartsfield is a cornerback/safety hybrid that always provides a spark when on the field. He could also potentially be the starting nickel corner based on what we’ve seen during the offseason.
