Bold predictions for the Carolina Panthers as they get set to begin their first campaign under Frank Reich and his exceptional coaching staff in 2023.

The Carolina Panthers are about to embark on their first game week of the 2023 season. All the big talk, hype, and increased expectations surrounding this team must translate into positive performances when push comes to shove, especially considering how dismal things were under the previous regime before they were finally ousted.

Frank Reich and his all-star coaching staff know the magnitude of their upcoming challenges. Getting off to a strong start is crucial with the Panthers facing two divisional rivals right out of the gate, but there's a chance Carolina could become one of the league's surprise packages if everything clicks immediately.

Easier said than done, but not impossible. On this topic, here are nine bold predictions for the Panthers' upcoming campaign in 2023.

C.J. Henderson earns new Carolina Panthers deal

It's been encouraging to see C.J. Henderson playing so well under improved coaches throughout the summer. However, we've seen this before from the cornerback, so what he does in the regular season will be far more telling.

Henderson has all the talent, it's putting together consistency that's been his biggest stumbling block. Ejiro Evero, Jonathan Cooley, and DeAngelo Hall will be on hand to guide the former first-round selection every step of the way, but things are still hanging precariously in a contract year.

If Henderson can perform well enough to get a new deal from the Panthers once the campaign concludes, that's probably better than anyone envisaged. Something that would also assist a cornerback group that comes into 2023 with some concerns.

Carolina Panthers WR Terrace Marshall Jr. gains 1,000 receiving yards

After including D.J. Moore in the trade package that landed quarterback Bryce Young at No. 1 overall in the 2023 NFL Draft, the Carolina Panthers are counting on someone else to step up and become the team's primary wide receiver. While there's a chance this could be a committee approach, Terrace Marshall Jr. could be the guy.

Marshall's missed some time with a back issue throughout the summer, which isn't ideal. However, the former second-round pick out of LSU has every physical tool normally associated with No. 1 wideouts around the league and could take another leap forward.

If Marshall builds on the momentum generated over the second half of 2022 and avoids any major complications on the health front, his first 1,000-yard receiving campaign might not be that far-fetched.

Carolina Panthers LB Frankie Luvu gains 120+ tackles

Frankie Luvu is an absolute superstar. The recognition might not be there nationally, but another exceptional campaign could see people start sitting up and taking notice of his outstanding athletic attributes once and for all.

Luvu is an inspiring leader and a powerful presence at the defensive second level. He's making a switch to middle linebacker alongside Shaq Thompson in Ejiro Evero's 3-4 base scheme, which could see the player reach heights not seen before.

If Luvu goes over 120 tackles and gets a few sacks along the way, Carolina's brass will have no option other than to reward the one-time Washington State standout with a bumper new deal to keep him around.

Carolina Panthers RB Miles Sanders gains 1,800 all-purpose yards

It was something of a surprise to see the Carolina Panthers shell out decent money for a running back so soon after getting Christian McCaffrey's contract off the books. But the coaching staff genuinely believed Miles Sanders could occupy a three-down role within Frank Reich and Thomas Brown's expansive scheme.

Sanders hasn't been seen much in recent weeks due to injury. This was more of a precaution rather than anything more serious and the player is confident of hitting the ground running while also featuring heavily in the passing game for good measure.

The Panthers are expecting Sanders to set the tone following the first Pro Bowl campaign of his professional career. Somewhere in the region of 1,800 all-purpose yards would be exactly what the doctor ordered.

Brian Burns breaks Carolina Panthers single-season sack record

Brian Burns is waiting to see if he'll get a mammoth contract extension before competitive games begin. The Panthers and his representatives are reportedly not close to a deal, but that could change depending on what transpires between Nick Bosa and the San Francisco 49ers in the coming days.

Regardless of how things unfold, Burns' performances will be integral to the Panthers' hopes in 2023. The edge-rushing phenom has risen in stature with every passing season and another outstanding campaign of growth could see a franchise record well within his sights.

The current Panthers single-season sack record stands at 15 - shared by Greg Hardy and the late Kevin Greene. If Burns plays a full slate and thrives as a 3-4 outside linebacker, surpassing this milestone isn't out of the question.

Carolina Panthers CB Jaycee Horn gains All-Pro honors

As previously stated, there are concerns surrounding the Carolina Panthers cornerback room heading into the season. Health and a lack of genuine depth are the primary factors behind these doubts, but the potential is evident providing everyone stays clear of the injury bug.

Jaycee Horn is the No. 1 option and shutdown presence on the outside. He's missed a lot of time over his first two seasons in the league, but the former first-round selection is an absolute stud and difficult to overcome when healthy.

If Horn manages to play a full campaign for the first time, there's just no telling what he could accomplish. Earning an All-Pro selection would be a dream come true.

Carolina Panthers QB Bryce Young breaks rookie passing record

Bryce Young's got the weight of the world on his shoulders heading into his rookie campaign. The No. 1 overall pick has a big bullseye on his back and immense expectations from a fanbase that's been starved of successful quarterback play since Cam Newton took the NFL by storm.

Young's poise, precision, and ability to manipulate the pocket were all evident during his brief preseason time under center. If he can take this through into a competitive environment and Carolina's offensive line holds up, a highly productive first season will soon follow.

The current rookie season passing record stands at 4,374 yards and is held by Andrew Luck. Young breaking this would be nothing short of sensational en route to an NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award.

Carolina Panthers HC Frank Reich wins NFL Coach of the Year

Frank Reich's professionalism and purpose have been a breath of fresh air across the Carolina Panthers since he became head coach. Every single player is pulling in the same direction and the figurehead got the right blend of youth and experience onto his all-star coaching staff to give him a helping hand.

This will likely be Reich's last head coaching gig whether it goes well or not. Joining the Panthers is also a full-circle scenario and something that evidently means a great deal to him personally, so no stone will be left unturned in pursuit of progress.

There's a chance for the Panthers to improve significantly under Reich's leadership. If they can get close to double-digit victories and win the NFC South, then he'll be in contention for NFL Coach of the Year.

Carolina Panthers win a home playoff game

The NFC South is there for the taking. It's a division in flux right now with questions surrounding all four teams, so which one emerges from the wilderness and into the driving seat is anyone's guess.

Carolina is quietly confident. Getting off to a good start is crucial, but there's every chance they'll be sitting at the summit come Week 18 if the necessary momentum is generated early.

Winning the division is one thing. But if the Panthers could also win a playoff contest in front of their home fans at Bank of America Stadium, it would be a sensational turnaround in such a short space of time.
